In the process of training future doctors, teaching students the Latin language plays an important role. Without mastering its basics, it is impossible to master medical knowledge. The discipline “Latin language” is closely related to anatomy, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, as well as clinical disciplines.
In a number of medical universities, the Latin language is excluded from the mandatory state standards of education. However, this subject is mandatory at the Kazakh-Russian Medical University. In the current academic year, many first-year students at a meeting with the faculty have said that they chose our university because Latin is taught here.
On January 29, 2023, a meeting of the Latin Language section was held at the Department of Language Disciplines. This is the first meeting in the second semester of the current academic year. For first-year students studying majors as “Dentistry” and “Pharmacy”, Latin is a new discipline, the study of which begins in the second semester.
At the session of the section, issues related to the specifics of teaching Latin to dental students and pharmacists were discussed. The degree of readiness for the first and second midterm controls was reviewed. An instruction was announced, according to which in all groups of all specialties, intermediate controls should be of the same content and have uniform requirements for students.
Teachers who participated in the work of the section exchanged views about the methods of teaching Latin. Senior lecturer Tenizbaeva N.M. shared her work experience. She told about the specifics of the classes that will take place next week. The teachers of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, who work part-time at our university, expressed their admiration for the students of the Kazakh-Russian Medical University, their knowledge and desire to study. They showed a positive attitude towards teaching students in small groups of 10-12 people.
The section was attended by the head of the department, Ph.D. Duisembekova L.S., head teacher Kulabaeva R.T., Ph.D. Akkozhina B.K., Ph.D. Mukanova Z.A., Ph.D. D.A. Karagoishieva, senior teachers: Tenizbaeva N.M., Bayanbayeva A.A., Halimuldinova L.
